Defending U.S. Open women’s singles champion Kim Clijsters attended batting practice, chatted with All-Star third baseman David Wright and threw out the ceremonial first pitch at tonight’s Mets-Astros game at Citi Field, right down the boardwalk from the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Clijsters, the No. 2 seed in this year’s tournament, opens her title defense Monday or Tuesday against Hungary’s Greta Hun.
