Rain washes out Sunday’s men’s final

Maybe Novak Djokovic’s Serbian rain dance worked after all.

Slated to face Rafael Nadal in today’s U.S. Open men’s final just 20 hours after a taxing five-set victory over Roger Federer, Djokovic was presumably ecstatic when tournament officials decided to postpone the remainder of Sunday’s playing schedule due to rain. The extended recovery time is a huge boost for Djokovic’s chances against Nadal, who needed just over two hours to dispense of Mikhail Youzhny in Saturday’s first semifinal.

The men’s final will start Monday at 4 p.m. ET (on CBS), tournament officials say. Below, scenes from a soggy Sunday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
