“This is me… in my underwear.”
The relationship between tennis players and underwear has always fascinated me. Maybe it’s just me, but the last thing I’m thinking when I watch tennis players sweat, grunt, and slide around a tennis court is “I wonder what brand of underwear they wear. I bet you it’s really, really good underwear. Like… the best underwear.”
But those who share my view on this issue have never been included in the underwear marketing focus groups, because Caroline Wozniacki is the most recent in a long line of tennis players who have endorsed or designed underwear. Wozniacki joins the likes of Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal for Armani, Patrick Rafter for Bonds, and Janko Tipsarevic for Extreme Intimo as an underwear model for her own brand of underwear. The world No. 9 announced on her website that she’ll design the underwear line in conjunction with Danish company JBS, and I know what you’re thinking so I’ll just go ahead and tell you: Yes, there will be both a cotton and a microfiber line.
The thoughts behind [sic] are, as Caroline puts it: “A feminine lifestyle/leisure underwear collection for the girl that wants the good looks from fashion, a perfect fit for her body, and a quality that’s hard to beat. JBS was the perfect partner to accomplish that.”
