If there’s any tournament that begs to be Instagrammed, it’s the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Set against snow-capped mountains and under a hot desert sun, the laid-back resort vibe of the tournament means players are relaxed and happy to be here.

Here are some of the best snaps from the first week of the tournament (the picture above is Rafael Nadal-Ryan Harrison under the lights). Be sure to follow the Beyond the Baseline Instagram account for more updates through the week.

Maria Sharapova promoting Sugarpova and singing a few high notes of Cher’s Believe during a pre-tournament interview.

Ana Ivanovic and Novak Djokovic arrive at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Indian Wells Tennis Garden site expansion.

Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka and Nadal.

Azarenka with the press in her pre-tournament roundtable. Redfoo was, of course, also in attendance. His velvet blazer looked rough for this weather.

Andrea Petkovic sees your hitting partner and raises you one.

Pics or it didn’t happen: Nadal and Federer land in the same quarter of the draw.

Midnight in Indian Wells and Harrison is still going in his first-round match against Go Soeda. Harrison had just saved a huge break point and broke in the next game.

Nadal checking messages as he came into press after his first hard-court win since Miami 2012.

Ernests Gulbis says his mom told him to give up tennis. Now on a double-digit winning streak, he must be happy he didn’t.

Your turn. Caption this one in the comments.

“I was very scared,” Nadal said. “I finish the earthquake, and I was my legs were like this,” trembling his legs.
