WIMBLEDON, England — Just a few hours after becoming the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years, Andy Murray threw on a tuxedo Sunday and joined women’s winner Marion Bartoli at the champions ball at the InterContinental Park Lane Hotel in London.

Bob and Mike Bryan (who won men’s doubles), Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-wei (women’s doubles) and Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic (mixed doubles) also earned invites to the party.

The men’s and women’s champions no longer have the first dance, but Murray was still looking forward to celebrating with Bartoli.

“She’s a very, very nice girl,” Murray said beforehand. “I’ve spent little bits of time with her over the last few years. She works extremely hard. A lot of people kind of questioned her sort of methods, the ways that she plays. I was really, really happy for her that she managed to win yesterday. I’m sure she’ll be good fun tonight. She’s a funny girl.”

Based on Bartoli’s morning-after tweet, it sounds like they had a great time.

Check out more photos from the party.

This proves that you don't have to be pretty like Anna Kournikova or Maria Sharapova or ugly and fit like Venus Williams to win a Wimbledon Title. Even if you are fat and ugly you can win it all as long as you work hard and luck is on your side.

I'm very happy for Marion Bartoli and Andy Murray. Congratulations to both for being Wimbledon champions!

(I can't say I care much for her dress, not that it matters. It looks plastic. Maybe it's pleather. I can't really tell. But I don't think it'll be starting any fashion trends). /end of fashion rant

Fat Marion would look a lot better in that dress if she dropped 25 pounds. Overnight TV ratings just came in. The Bartoli/Lisicki match garnered a paltry 1.1. rating. This is the lowest rating of all time for a Wimbledon Women's Final...by over 30%. This proves once again that Americans will tune out in droves when a fat French girl is playing.

Congrats to Bartoli and Andy for job well done.  Bartoli got those ankle boots on.  She is wearing them.

Those that cannot achieve competitive success in a physically and mentally demanding field through hard training and dedication to one's craft, work as commentators for the BBC.  Intelligence, class, and spiked boots - Marion certainly seems to be a "looker" to me.

@SikanKani Yeuch! People like you make me wonder if there's an as-yet undiscovered schism in the gene pool. Horrible, narcissistic picture as well.

@SikanKani what a terrible comment to make.  If you have nothing nice to say then shut up.  The only person ugly in this post is you.

@pamperofirpo pamper diapers give it a rest. if that is a picture of you, you look HUGE! marion won 2.4 million dollars. her looks will not make that money any less impressive or spendable. you should be so lucky to earn 2.4 million in your entire life. give the fat girl comments a rest. go outside, do something. volunteer at the VA. help someone, take a cancer patient to the hospital for their appointments. contribute something to society. @cleopatra209 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the way she looks. I'm glad she won because

she's been around a long time. Lisicki is only 23 and has more time to win far more tities. It was a Great and exciting win for my beautiful and good player Marion! About time somebody else one!

@cleopatra209 @SikanKani   cleopatra: Why don't you show us what YOU actually look like instead of trying to bully others while hiding behind the image of Cleopatra.

@cleopatra209 @pamperofirpo Always good to hear from you, Cleopatra. But, I think you are still missing the point. Fat Marion's win is bad for women's tennis. When an out-of-shape, overweight woman wins the biggest tournament of the year, it is a reinforcement that the level of play is poor. The insipid TV ratings also reinforce this.

By the way, the picture is not me. It is a picture of the Great Pampero Firpo, the Wild Bull of the Pampas. I have made a lot more than $2.4 million in my life. I am one of those awful "millionaires and billionaires" that you liberals detest. I make a difference in the world by creating hundreds of jobs for Americans. And, my daughter is doing exceptionally well.

Cleopatra, don't waste your breathe on Pampers.  Obviously he has self esteem issues of his own.  Only a total failure will go out their way to insult someone he doesn't know.  Marion is beautiful and she is the 2013 Champion.

@pamperofirpoi am happy to hear that you have done well and not damaged your daughter. marion is who she is, it is mean spirited of you to call her fat. your hurtful words in no way improves women's tennis. ok, marion may look different than what you would think that a tennis star should look like, but, she won wimbledon and is a star. you continuing to call her fat does not change that. also, glad to hear that you help americans by creating jobs. just do that and leave the name calling to less productive hateful and hurtful people. it is BENEATH YOU!!.

    Yeah right.....

because that is what successful people usually do in their spare time :  trolling on sports websites....

BTW even itaken at face value your so called "argument" is laughable : it 's the other way round , moron : if Bartoli can win seven matches in a row in a major, then it means that she is not out of shape, notwithstanding her looks.

But most probably, you don't  really care about tennis, do you  ? Like most trolls   you just get your kicks by dissing a perfect stranger while remaining safely anonymous...
