Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka attended the 2013 ESPY Awards on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Both women were nominated for Best Female Tennis Player, which went to Serena Williams, who also won Best Female Athlete. (Novak Djokovic won best Male Tennis Player.) Sadly, ESPN missed a viral-video moment by not getting the two to take the stage to accept the award on behalf of Williams, who is playing the Swedish Open this week. That would have been must-see-TV.
Sharapova dropped by the ESPN booth to do her best Joan Rivers impersonation during the red-carpet arrivals, critiquing some of the night’s fashion missteps. She later took the stage with actor Kevin Bacon to present the Best Comeback Athlete award to Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

• On model Marissa Miller’s virtually see-through frock: “That’s interesting… I would maybe…cover some parts of it?”
• On Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade: “It’s not that cold and what is that on his neck? He dresses well, usually. So.”
• On San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick: “He’s taking a chance. I like that. I like taking chances on the red carpet.” Here’s Sharapova with Kaepernick:
