Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have been known to play marathon matches filled with grueling points. Well, how does a 54-shot rally sound? That’s what transpired in the middle of the second set Monday during their U.S. Open final.

Djokovic won the point to break for a 4-2 lead. Nadal immediately broke back, but Djokovic responded with another break and a hold to win the set and level the match at a set apiece. (Click here for live game-by-game analysis of the match.)

After the jump, check out some Twitter reaction to the point.

After watching that, and hearing it might be the best point of the tournament,  I have no desire to watch the final, which is on my PVR as I was out at a meeting that night.  That was almost as boring as the last number of games of that Isner/Mahut marathon.

Nadal is the greatest player of all-time. He does not need the most Grand Slams to prove it, but he will have it in a few more years. This simply cannot be argued. All courts, highest quality, the best.

I wouldn't say it was very high quality, to be honest.... Lots of safe strokes, but still impressive

Waste of time, its two guys afraid to make a move so they hit safe shots back and forth for two min. Not impressive just boring. They wonder why the US doesn't produce any tennis players anymore, thats why. If people complain about the pace of baseball how about the pace of tennis. Wake me in three hours and let me watch the last game. Then I can watch the winner drop his knees crying like Willem Dafoe in Platoon.

@RayIsBipolar It was one point, how can you judge the entire tournament on one point. If you were courtside I think you would see that they were not dinking it back and forth, they are hitting pretty hard with lots of spin.

@JamesBadham1 @RayIsBipolar Yeah.  I get that.  My group?  We end rallies within two or three strokes.  We're really much better than these scrubs.
