Maria Sharapova lost an exhibition to Ana Ivanovic over the weekend in Bogota, Colombia, in her first match in nearly four months.
Sharapova had not played since a second-round loss to Sloane Stephens at the Western & Southern Open in mid-August. She missed the U.S. Open and the fall season with a shoulder injury.
“After months of not competing, tonight was a baby step forward!” Sharapova tweeted. “I missed this so much! Thank you Colombia for such a warm welcome.
Sharapova also used the trip as an opportunity to launch her Sugarpova candy line in Colombia.
